About LonelyLeft

The first marketplace built specifically for people who have lost one item from a pair.

The Problem

Everyone has experienced it. You lose one earring at a party, one shoe goes missing during a move, the dryer eats one sock, or one AirPod slips out of your pocket on the subway. You're left with a perfectly good item that's useless on its own.

Right now, your options are limited: buy a completely new pair (wasteful and expensive), or let the remaining item sit in a drawer forever. Meanwhile, someone else out there has the exact opposite problem — they have the other side.

The Solution

LonelyLeft connects these people. We're a marketplace where you can list your single earring, shoe, glove, earbud, or any item that comes in a pair. Our matching algorithm automatically finds potential matches — items of the same brand, type, material, and color, but from the opposite side.

How It Works

1

List your item

Upload photos and describe your single item — what category it is, which side (left or right), the brand, material, color, and condition. Set a price if you want to sell, or just look for a match.

2

We find matches

Our algorithm scores every listing against yours across five dimensions: brand, item type, material, color, and size. It only shows matches from the opposite side — left earrings match with right earrings, left shoes match with right shoes. Matches scoring 40% or higher appear on your dashboard.

3

Connect and complete

When you find a potential match, message the other person to verify it's the right fit. Share additional photos, negotiate a price, or make an offer directly. Once you agree, arrange the exchange and you both have a complete pair again.

What You Can List

The Matching Algorithm

Every listing is scored against potential matches across five weighted dimensions:

  • Brand (30 points) — Exact brand match, case-insensitive
  • Item type (25 points) — Same type (e.g., hoop earring to hoop earring)
  • Material (20 points) — Exact or compatible materials (gold matches rose gold)
  • Color (15 points) — Exact or similar color groups (silver matches grey)
  • Size (10 points) — Exact size match

Side compatibility is mandatory — a left earring can only match with a right earring (or one marked as "either side"). Items must be in the same category to match.

Why LonelyLeft?

Save money. Instead of buying a new $200 pair of earrings because you lost one, find the matching single for $50.

Reduce waste. Millions of perfectly good single items end up in landfills every year. LonelyLeft gives them a second life.

It just makes sense. For every left earring sitting in a drawer, there's a right one somewhere else. We bring them together.
